Which is not a term used for one of the senses in regards to wine tasting?
  1. Sound
  2. Sight
  3. Nose
  4. Palate
Explanation
Answer: A - Sound is not used for one of the senses in regards to wine tasting. When wine tasting, first we look at the sight, meaning the color, clarity, density, viscosity, and other aspects to see what we can tell by looking at the wine. Next is the nose of the wine or smell; what do we get on the nose? Is it flawed, oaked, floral, earthy, fruit-forward, etc.? This helps us further determine what kind of wine it may be while getting us ready to take a sip. Last, but not least, we examine the palate. What do we taste? Is there fruit, minerality, earth, oak, or sweetness (again, there are many other possibilities)? We can say, “the wine is sound,” meaning there are no faults, but we don’t need to listen to the wine.
