Answer: B -The Federalist Papers were a series of essays that three of the Constitution’s drafters-James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay-wrote to explain the political theory that informed the Constitution. To be more specific, the Papers were a collection of 85 essays that explained the political theory behind one of the two competing viewpoints (the Federalist perspective) on the document’s creation. They were published anonymously in New York newspapers, in a bid to compel New Yorkers to vote for ratification. The essays remain the basis for interpreting the Constitution.
