In which phase of the OPT model is elastic resistance (rubber bands and elastic tubing) most often used?
  1. Stabilization Endurance
  2. Strength Endurance
  3. Maximal Strength
  4. Power
Explanation
Answer - D - Resistance bands are most often used in the Power Phase of the OPT model. Resistance bands can increase proprioceptive demands, stabilization of joints, and muscular endurance. An example of an exercise superset using resistance bands during the Power Phase is the barbell bench press immediately followed by the tubing shoulder press. Although elastic resistance is ideal for explosive movements, it can also be used in Phases 1 and 2 of the OPT model.
