Answer: E - Ancient Rome did not have an exceptionally complex manufacturing industry, even for wheeled tools or transport devices. Though the Roman empire ultimately built a revolutionary network of public roads, they were not designed to facilitated wheeled travel. Following Rome’s numerous military victories, they had an extensive stock of cheap slave labor. Yeoman farmers, who owned their own land, were able to engage in free trade. Rome also had a complex coinage system consisting of currency in bronze, brass, and precious metal denominations.
