Answer: A - The Pax Romana was a period of peace and public works progress in the Roman Empire that lasted approximately 200 years (207, to be exact). The period was established by Caesar Augustus in 27 BCE and lasted until 180 CE (at the death of Marcus Aurelius). The peace only pertained to the empire within its own borders- they continued to fight foreign wars. During this period the empire reached its greatest size, in terms of land area, and the population reached upwards of 70 million people. Many of the aqueducts and paved roads, for which Ancient Rome was known, were constructed during the Pax Romana.
