Which is a sign that the infant has not successfully breastfed?
  1. The infant is taking supplemental formula after breastfeeding.
  2. The neonate's stools darken at about the 3rd day of life.
  3. The stools are turned yellow by the 2nd day of life.
  4. The mother's breasts soften after breastfeeding.
Explanation
Answer: D - Some of the signs of successful breastfeeding include softening of the mother's breasts, hearing the infant swallow, increases in the number of wet diapers, lightening of the stools by the third day of life, and yellow stools by the 5th day of life. The infant's taking supplemental formula after breastfeeding is not an indication of successful or non-successful breastfeeding. It is not a reliable indicator
