Answer: D - The Catholic Church convoked to address the Protestant Reformation at the Council of Trent in 1545. It took three periods of 25 sessions over a span of 18 years for the Church to formalize their positions on the controversies created by the Protestant Reformation. It is considered one of the greatest councils, particularly in terms of reform, in the Church’s history. The agreements that were reached during the Council of Trent were implemented as Catholic canon through papal issues (bulls, decrees, etc.).
