Answer − D - An injection may damage the sciatic nerve if injected into inferior and medial quadrant of the buttocks. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body. In a sciatic nerve block, it is approached by inserting the needle at the lateral aspect. Lateral needle insertion is preferred to medial insertion because the inferior gluteal artery is located medial to the nerve and may interfere with needle advancement.
