Answer: C - Airway obstruction is the most prevalent and lethal of the complications brought on by anaphylaxis. When the airway reacts to all of the chemicals released by the body in response to the antigens, the soft tissue within the mouth and oropharynx will begin to swell causing significant airway compromise. Hives, fluid overload and arrhythmias may, or may not be present in the anaphylactic patient.
