Answer: C - The jaw thrust can be done in conjunction with the bag-mask device by lifting anteriorly at the angle of the jaw. When applying this method the EMT-P is able to remove the tongue from the back of the Oropharynx to open the airway and deliver more effective ventilations. When applying the jaw thrust the EMT-P must utilize the rigid structures at the angle of the jaw, if the EMT-P utilizes the other anatomical structures mentioned above they cannot effectively displace the tongue.
