Answer: A -When a representative from the Organization for the Advancement of Bad Music (OABM) meets with Senator Knowsome’s chief of staff to discuss pending legislation of internet pirating, the OABM is practicing direct lobbying. Direct lobbying is when an interest group speaks with policymakers (or their staff) directly to try to influence policy. Although this is what is most often thought of when one hears the word “lobbying”, it is actually a relatively small portion of most lobbying budgets. It is valuable, though, as policymakers are more likely to listen to and trust people they have actually met.
