If an ophthalmologist delegates a task to you that you do not feel you are qualified to take on, let the ophthalmologist know your concern. For the sake of efficiency, the ophthalmologist will often delegate tasks to auxiliary staff. However, if you do not feel comfortable doing something, either because of a lack of training or because it is outside your scope of practice, it is critical to make your concerns heard, otherwise a patient’s health might be put in jeopardy.
