Answer: B - Pompey the Great captured Jerusalem in 63 BCE and ultimately took control of all of Judaea, the southern region of Israel. Subsequently, the Roman Senate installed King Herod (or Herod the Great) as a “client king” of the Jewish people, establishing the Herodian dynasty. The following two centuries were dominated by ongoing conflicts between the Romans and the Jews until Rome finally banned the Jewish people from Jerusalem altogether.
