Wasp space is the reserved hard drive space used to extend RAM capabilities. When a system fills up its volatile memory space, it writes data from memory, not the hard drive. When a program requests access to this data, it is brought from the hard drive back into memory in specified units called pages. This process is called virtual memory paging.
