Answer: C - Hammurabi is remembered for establishing a unified code of law. The Code of Hammurabi is one of the oldest known bodies of law in the history, dating back to the Babylonia circa 1772 BCE. The code consisted of 282 laws that established rules about labor contracts, the military, general societal conduct, punishments for crimes and the standards by which a person could be charged with and deemed guilty of wrongdoing, all weighted for the social class of the individual (slave or free man). The Code of Hammurabi was a precursor to a formal constitution. Carvings of the Code that exist today range from book-sized clay tablets to large stones that are the size of an adult.
