A client complains of “tennis elbow.” What is the medical term associated with this injury and one of the areas where you will focus your work?
  1. Lateral epicondylitis
  2. Medial epicondylitis
  3. Rotator cuff
  4. Appendicitis
Explanation
Answer: A Tennis elbow is also known as lateral epicondylitis. This condition is usually caused from overuse or overstress of the elbow tendons from the movements of flexion and extension. The tendons gradually develop micro-tears from this repetitive action and pain worsens over time. The condition is often associated with tennis, but can affect any occupation that overuses the elbow including carpentry and painting. In the acute stage, it is treated with ice, while in the sub-acute/chronic stage, CFF is added to spread the tendon and reduce contracted in the associated muscles. Don’t forget to massage the arms, hands and shoulders too.
