Answer: D - Hypotension is not a sign or symptom of polycythemia vera. Headache, deep red tongue, gingiva, and hypertension are included in the signs and symptoms of polycythemia vera. Other signs and symptoms are weakness, dizziness, dyspnea, epigastric pain, gingival bleeding and swelling, oral petechiae, ecchymoses, and hematomas. Due to the increased blood volume, these patients have an increased risk for leukemia, splenomegaly, myocardial infractions, hypertension, and strokes.
