Primary osteoporosis is also called senile osteoporosis. It is related to aging and decreased gonodal hormones. Due to the sedentary life style in old age, there is diminished muscle stress and diet fat that leads to demineralization of bone.
Prolonged use of corticosteroids, hypercorticism, and malignancy causes secondary osteoporosis (indirect causes that affect bone).
