Answer: B - One of the four principles upon which the No Child Left Behind Act is based is the need for increased accountability for educators based upon their students’ performance. The call for increased accountability has resulted in exponential increases in the amount of required standardized testing in schools. Additionally, accreditation and the achievement of annual yearly progress goals have become the focus of much professional development. The NCLB Act is the current enactment of the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). The ESEA was a direct response to President Lyndon Johnson’s war on poverty.
