Answer: C - In Brown v. Board of Education the Supreme Court ruled that separate could not be equal in public schools, overturning the finding in Plessy v. Ferguson and indicating that all public schools should be integrated "with all deliberate speed". Contrary to popular belief, this case only overturned segregation in public schools and did not affect any other public accommodations. Many states in the South moved very slowly in implementing the Supreme Court’s decision, with the final schools not technically integrating until the early 1980s.
