For which of the following conditions are Brandt-Daroff exercises suggested?
  1. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
  2. Parkinson’s disease
  3. Stroke
  4. Cerebellar ataxia
Explanation
Answer: A -Brandt-Daroff exercises are suggested in benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common disorder of the inner ear’s vestibular system.
Brandt-Daroff exercise is performed by starting in an upright, seated position. Moving into the lying position on one side with head turned up at about a 45-degree angle. This position is maintained for about 30 seconds (or until the vertigo subsides,) Then moving back to the seated position. Then the procedure is repeated on the opposite side.

For Parkinson’s disease, stroke and cerebellar ataxia, vertigo is not a usual symptom. So this exercise is not suggested.
