Answer: A - The Chief Complaint is a brief description of why the EMS unit has been summoned. Often times, this is given in the patient’s own words; however, may be adapted by the EMS team to better portray the true issue. For instance, if the patient says, “I can’t catch my wind,” a better chief complaint would be “shortness of breath.”
