The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Nurse Executive exam is a computer based, 3.5-hour exam consisting of 175 questions (150 scored questions and 25 unscored pretest questions).

There are 150 questions (125 scored, 25 unscored) on the Nurse Executive exam, divided across the following four categories: Human Resource Management (39 questions, 31%), Quality and Safety (26 questions, 21%), Business Management (18 questions, 14%), and Health Care Delivery (42 questions, 33%).

The ANCC Nurse Executive exam is 3 hours long.

The Nurse Executive Certification is pass/fail. There is no officially stated passing grade.

Earning a passing grade on the Nurse Executive Certification exam grants the test taker the NE-BC (Nurse Executive Board Certified) for five years.
