The massage therapist exam contains questions across the following seven categories: Anatomy and physiology (11%), Kinesiology (12%), Pathology, special populations, contraindications, and areas of caution (14%), Benefits and Physiological Effects of Techniques that Manipulate Soft Tissue (15%), Client assessment, reassessment, and treatment plan formulation (17%), Ethics, laws, and boundaries in massage therapy (16%), and Guidelines for professional practice (15%).
The Massage Therapist exam is 2 hours long.
Passing the Massage Therapist exam is one of the requirements of massage therapist licensure. The massage therapist exam is administered by the FSMTB, whereas licensure is determined by state boards.
