The Advanced Placement English Language & Composition exam is administered by the College Board each May to high school students. Students are tested on their ability to craft persuasive essays and on how well they can identify literary devices in samples of literature. The exam is graded on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest. Higher institutions can grant college credit based on a student\'s score at their discretion. 

Students are given 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete the two sections on the test. Section I is sixty minutes long and is inclusive of approximately 55 multiple-choice questions. Section II is two hours and fifteen minutes long and is the Free Response section, in which students are to read three prompts and answer the questions within the designated amount of time.

There are 67 questions on the AP English Language & Composition Exam, divided into two categories: Multiple Choice (45 questions, 23-25 reading questions and 20-22 writing questions) and Free Response (3 questions).

The AP English Language & Composition Exam is 3 hours and 15 minutes long.

Generally, a score of 3 out of 5 or higher is considered a passing score in an AP exam. Scoring at least a 3 is usually required to receive college credit hours. Colleges decide what grade to grant credit for, and some may only accept a 4 or 5.

Passing the AP English Language & Composition exam can grant a student college course credit.
