Answer: B - The Communist Manifesto was published in 1848 in the United Kingdom by Germans Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, who stated that all of human history was a history of “class struggles.” Marx and Engels described a conflict between the proletariat (working class) and the bourgeoisie (wealthy). They argued that capitalism would eventually fall to socialism, then communism. The text was not terribly popular for the first several decades after its publication, but it nevertheless received multiple updates over the years. It eventually struck a nerve in Russia, where it informed the Russian Revolution. Though it remains most closely associated with the political history of Russia, The Communist Manifesto proved influential in numerous Western countries.
