For example, telepsychologists are expected to abide by the same regulations as any other psychologists with regard to such issues as informed consent, confidentiality, and payment arrangements. Telepsychologists do need a high level of computer proficiency and they can also receive temporary licenses in some instances to practice across state lines. The severely mentally ill would not be good candidates for distance therapy because those persons require more intensive face-to-face therapy.
