Answer: B - Medical Directors are responsible for the oversight of all patient care within an EMS system. The Medical Director of an EMS system also oversees the training of EMS personnel within the system. In addition, the Medical Director is responsible for developing treatment protocols that guide the care of patients. Standing orders are protocols developed by the Medical Director, which authorize EMS personnel to take certain actions under specific circumstances without having to speak directly to the Medical Director.
