Answer: C - Addressing problem behaviors after they have occurred so that students observe a non-example of appropriate behavior is NOT a principle of effective classroom management. In order to be effective, classroom management strategies must be proactive. A management system should be designed to prevent and modify behavior rather than waiting for the behaviors to occur. While unexpected occurrences of a problem behavior may present a teachable moment, teachers should focus on averting such behaviors instead of simply reacting to them after the fact.
