Answer: C - Harriet Beecher Stowe's fictional account of slavery, Uncle Tom's Cabin, became a best seller in the North. By framing slavery in a personal narrative, Stowe created a compelling case for abolition. Her works was so famous the President Abraham Lincoln reportedly referred to her as "the little lady that started the big war" in reference to the impact of the novel.
