Answer: B -The Second Great Awakening, a Protestant revival movement in the early 19^th century, supported the temperance movement. Because churches were actively involved and endorsed the self-control that avoiding alcohol demonstrated, it was a logical extension of evangelical ministers’ teachings. While the temperance movement coincided with the abolitionist movement and both were based on moral authority, they had very different goals. The women's movement also generally supported temperance.
