Answer: C - The National Teachers Association was NOT founded with the goal of providing parents with legal rights in regard to their child’s education. The original membership consisted of 43 educators who wished to promote public education, produce advancements within education and to encourage growth in the number of Americans entering the teaching profession. The NEA was an all-male organization until it permitted women to begin joining in 1866. After several mergers with other teacher organizations, it is now known as the National Education Association (NEA).
