Answer: A - Polycythemia vera is known as Osler’s disease. This condition increases the volume of blood and the number of blood cells. Primary polycythemia is increased multiplication of progenitor marrow stem cells. Secondary polycythemia is an excess of erythrocytes. Although the cells function normally, these patients have an increased risk for leukemia, splenomegaly, myocardial infractions, hypertension, and strokes.
