Marital and Family Therapy

Category - Ongoing

One misconception about solution-focused brief therapy is that problems get solved right way. Instead, as the name implies, there is a focus on finding the solution. Oftentimes, in the middle of therapy, that could mean:
  1. Asking the question again, to see if the priority needs to change
  2. Stopping for a period of time
  3. Adding additional homework assignments
  4. Finishing the client’s sentences
Explanation
Answer - A - SFBT focuses particularly on what the client needs and how the client defines what the problem is. After all, from the SFBT standpoint, without the problem, there is no reason to attempt finding a solution. If the problem changes throughout, as human nature allows, SFBT by nature asks to reassess on a regular basis to be sure that the appropriate behaviors are being targeted.
