Answer: A - Extensive and excessive thumb sucking leads to anterior “open bite.” It prevents occlusion of the upper and lower teeth. The sucking action causes maxillary constriction that places undue pressure on the buccinator. While thumb sucking, the individual may also rest their hand on their chin, which can lead to a class II retrognathism profile.
