Although Tecumseh and the Native Americans in the Midwest had not been inspired by the British to incite a war, they joined the British because they knew that the American would continue to encroach upon their land. During the campaign for New Orleans, the British received help from the Native Americans in Florida, which was Spanish territory at the time. Andrew Jackson would attack these Native Americans on his return from New Orleans.
