Answer: C - Diastema, or tooth gaps, are associated with normal development. The majority of children display diastema at some point. Tooth-size discrepancy, supernumerary teeth, and abnormal frenum attachment cause it. The gap usually closes once the canines erupt and the lateral incisors are in position. Persistent gaps will need orthodontic alignment.
