Answer: C - Mandated reporters are required to report any suspected or evidenced child maltreatment to the proper officials. General statutes exist in all U.S. states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Other persons whom are considered mandated reporters include, but are not limited to, social workers; physicians and healthcare workers; childcare providers; mental health workers; law enforcement officials and coroners. Reports of child maltreatment must be substantiated in some way. There are legal repercussions for intentional, false reports.
