Alex wants to make some really hot tea. 100 °C just isn’t hot enough for him, and he’s trying to find out a way to make water boil at a higher temperature. What can he do?
  1. Turn up the stove really high.
  2. Use a fan to blow away the steam vapor as it boils to make the water hotter.
  3. Add some ice to the water before boiling.
  4. Add some salt to the water.
  5. Boil the water in a better-conducting pot.
Explanation
Answer: D - Adding salt, or any other solute, to the water will result in boiling point elevation. However, water won’t boil at too much higher of a temperature. Adding about 30 grams of salt to 1 L of water will result in only about 1 degree C of higher boiling temperature.
