The CPA exam is split into four sections that must all be passed within an 18 month period. Each section is categorized as follows: Auditing and Attestation (AUD, 72 questions), Business Environment and Concepts (BEC, 62 questions), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR, 66 questions), and Regulation (REG, 76 questions).
Each of the four CPA exam sections is four hours long, so overall the CPA exam is sixteen hours long.
The passing score of each CPA exam is 75 or higher out of 99.
The CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam is taken as part of becoming a licensed CPA and is used to help demonstrate knowledge and competency in the field of accounting. Having a CPA license is both necessary in many states for public practice and can provide test takers with opportunities for career advancement.
