The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is administered each year by the College Board to high school students who wish to prepare for the SAT and become familiar with the standardized test format. Students may take the test at their particular schools on one of the two dates per year that the exam is administered, which is normally in October. 

 

Students have 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete the 5 sections, which are inclusive only of multiple-choice questions. The subjects which appear on the exam are as follows:
